I started my day dragging, tired from working late and sore from some exercise the day before. I drank my French press coffee and ate my Jimmy Dean Delights (healthy and tasty) breakfast sandwich while catching up on my Pocket reading list. No change, still dragging.
I am usually one of those people that just wake-up full of energy, ready to get the day started, but no sir it just wasn’t happening today. I just couldn’t get going, that is until I rediscovered a productivity tool I had forgotten about lately…MUSIC. Ah music, it’s healthier than a second pot of coffee and keeps you going for a much longer time.
I dialed up Pandora on my iPad and chose the Beastie Boys channel, it started off with “No Sleep til Brooklyn”, a classic. My mood instantly changed, my thoughts became focused and I proceeded to make short work of some projects I had been trying to finish up.
I know music is a tried and true tool helping people like you and me everyday in the work place, in the car or wherever you may be taking out the tension, lightening the mood, making you skip and singing softly underneath your breath to that song you love but are a little embarrassed to let on.
My point is don’t forget about the tools that may be older or might be right in front of you (paper and pencil). Get back to basics, the little things, sometimes you may just feel liberated.
