Twelve years ago on Labor Day weekend I made a life changing decision and moved from Tucson, Arizona to the beaches and ideal weather of Southern California, the OC to be exact. Making the move to California was a dream come true. I had grown up watching Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place (I am dating myself pretty good here) and had fantasized of having those types of adventures myself one day. I had family that lived in Southern California and had visited a few times throughout my childhood and my younger brother had just made the same move. He offered up his tiny apartment located right on the beach so I quit my job and packed everything I could fit into my car and drove the 8 hours with my trusted friend Walter, my weiner-pug.
California turned out to be everything I had dreamed it might be. I had crazy adventures, met amazing people, made life long friends, learned so so much, started a family and grew into the person I am today. Not everything was rosy but that is what makes you who you are by making mistakes and failing you overcome. So when a unique opportunity was presented I made a tough decision to move my life to the great state of Texas. This Labor Day weekend I made the long 21 hour drive to the Dallas area to start new adventures, meet new friends and make more memories.
